New body armour for humanitarian use

It’s a sad fact that those who work in the humanitarian sector need potentially life-saving protection such as body armour, and now body armour specialist Aegis has developed a vest specifically for this market.

Aegis business development manager Steve Pope explained that the aim was to develop an armour solution durable enough to be used across all operational theatres while maintaining the flexibility to meet future requirements.

Designed and manufactured by Aegis, the Body Armour Vest uses Kevlar XP fibre from DuPont to provide a high level of ballistic protection without too much weight, making the vest comfortable and durable and allowing freedom of movement.

The adaptability of the design has made the vest a popular choice with many UN agencies, and those that have purchased it have become among the first to offer a specially designed vest for women as well as men, with hard armour protection to the side of the body.

The vests can also include the company logos for easy identification.?
Kevlar XP is a new technology that provides ballistic and trauma protection. Independent tests show that it consistently stops bullets within the first three layers of a vest, reducing body trauma but still providing a lightweight solution.
